The Korean women’s national soccer team, led by head coach Colin Bell, has announced the list ahead of the Arnold Clark Cup to be held in England in February.
Coach Colin Bell, who held a New Year’s press conference at the Soccer Hall on the afternoon of the 26th, revealed the list of 26 players to prepare for the ‘Arnold Clark Cup’, a four-nation friendly tournament to be held in England in February.
Korea, England, Italy and Belgium participate in the Arnold Clark Cup. It is a women’s international friendly tournament that started last year for the first time hosted by the England Football Association.
Ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand in July this year, Colin Belho plans to check his strength by participating in the Arnold Clark Cup. Most of the major players of the women’s national team, including Ji So-yeon (Suwon FC Women), Lee Geum-min (Brighton), and Jang Seul-gi (Incheon Hyundai Steel), were included in the list for this call.
However, Lee Min-ah (Incheon Hyundai Steel), Lee Young-joo (Madrid CFF), and Cho So-hyun (Tottenham Hotspur FC Women) missed out due to injuries. As alternative resources, Cheon Ga-ram (Ulsan University of Science) and Bae Ye-bin (Pohang Girls’ High School), who are regarded as the future of women’s soccer, were named. Coach Colin Bell plans to seek harmony between old and new at the Arnold Clark Cup, while preparing for the World Cup by playing against European powerhouses.
The women’s national team will conduct its first convocation training in 2023 in Ulsan from the 30th (Mon) to February 9 (Thu). Twenty-three players, excluding foreign players Lee Geum-min, Park Ye-eun (Brighton), and Yoon Young-geul, will participate. After completing domestic training, the national team will depart for England.
