LG Twins ace Adam Plutko has been placed on the disabled list for player protection.
Plutko started the game against the NC Dinos in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at NC Park in Changwon on Saturday.
Plutko was in trouble in every inning. In the top of the first inning, after leading off with a single, he retired Park Min-woo and Park Gun-woo on a fly ball to left field and a strikeout, respectively. However, he gave up a walk to Martin. With runners on first and second, he struck out Kwon Hee-dong.
Plutko started the second inning by getting Do Tae-hoon to fly out to left field, but gave up a double to Seo Ho-chul. He then struck out Kim Joo-won and Ahn Jung-yeol. In the bottom of the third inning, they put runners in scoring position. Leadoff hitter Son As-seob singled. Park Min-woo laid down a sacrifice bunt to put runners on first and second. Park got a respite when Son failed to steal second, but Park walked and Martin singled to put runners on first and second. However, he struck out Kwon Hee-dong to end the threat.
Plutko faced its biggest threat of the game in the bottom of the fourth. He gave up back-to-back singles to Do Tae-hoon and Seo Ho-chul. He gave up a walk to Kim Joo-won to load the bases. However, he induced Ahn Jung-yeol to fly out to shortstop. A double play of shortstop, second baseman, and first baseman resulted in Do Tae-hoon coming home, but Son As-seop grounded out to first base to keep the threat to a minimum.안전놀이터
Plutko was expected to take the mound in the fifth inning, but Yoo Young-chan took over. ”Plutko felt discomfort in his left adductor muscle,” said an LG official. We replaced him to protect the player.”
Plutko finished the game with four innings, one run (one earned), six hits, three walks, and three strikeouts. He threw 80 pitches, mixing a slider (30), four-seam fastball (24), cutter (14), curve (7), and changeup (5). His fastball was clocked at 148 km/h.
Plutko had been the LG’s ace in 20 games prior to this one, going 11-3 with a 2.41 ERA in 119 1/3 innings with 36 runs (32 earned). If this injury turns out to be a major one, it could be a big blow for LG. Let’s hope it’s not a major injury.
